Looking Forward Capital Campaign

The Need:

  1. More space for operations
  2. More mentoring rooms for one-on-one sessions
  3. Separate spaces for our baby boutique, education, and staff breaks
  4. New medical clinic staff

The Opportunity:

With the growing need for more space, our board created a sub-committee in January to begin looking for a new home for Charis. After looking at several buildings in the area, the committee concluded that the move would cost us upwards of two million dollars, BUT GOD had other plans!

Instead of a massive building project or an expensive move, we can move into a 7,000 sq ft space on Portland Street, more than doubling our space for a fraction of the cost of other spaces.

The Cost:

Campaign total: $200,000

  • New location, moving costs, and renovation – $127,000
  • Capital funds for new medical clinic – $73,000

The Need

As Wisconsin’s legislature continues to be a battleground for life, we see victories for life happening across the state. Wisconsin has seen abortions decrease by more than 70% since the 1980s, and Wisconsinites are significantly less likely to have an abortion than women in other states.*

But our work isn’t done.

As a pro-life organization, we are not only concerned with seeing life preserved, but also with helping life thrive.

In Fond du Lac County, there is a significant need for families who choose life to be equipped and supported as they work toward thriving.

2024 Birth Statistics in FDL*

119 children born into poverty

111 aborted children (approx.)

61 children born to immigrants

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10

Our Work

At Charis, we prioritize helping people overcome the barriers that can arise from choosing life and prevent families from thriving.

To do this, we have a team of volunteers dedicated to serving our clients well through services such as:

  • One-on-one mentoring and parenting education
  • Mom’s Circle
  • Baby Boutique, meeting the material needs of families
  • Post-abortion support
  • Birth education

And it’s working!

In 2025, we:

Distributed 4,400 items

Held 736 appointments

Served 73 clients

We are growing! As our impact grows, so does our need for prayers, volunteers, staff, and space.

Specifically, our biggest needs are:

1. More space for operations: Currently, all staff work in one office, which is also used to manage projects and securely store supplies.

2. More mentoring rooms for one-on-one sessions: We currently have two mentoring rooms and utilize the group education space and medical lobby for overflow sessions.

3. Separate spaces for our Baby Boutique, education, and staff breaks: These areas currently share one space, creating a need for additional dedicated space.

4. New medical clinic staff: Our partnership with Vida Medical ended October 31, 2025. Because of this, we need to restart our medical program, which will require hiring various medical staff and restocking our medical supplies. The good news is that we will retain our large medical equipment, so we will be able to continue providing medical services in our space.

*Statistics from the U.S. Census and Wisconsin Right to Life. The number of aborted children is based on the known abortion rate for Wisconsin. With the advent of the abortion pill and groups dedicated to illegally providing the pill to states like Wisconsin, the actual number of abortions cannot be known.

The Cost – $200,000

New Location, Moving, and Renovation — $173,500

The majority of the cost for our new location will be covered by the sale of our current building. What remains will cover the cost of customizing the space to meet our needs.

Some of the medical clinic renovations will be completed after we move in, once we are ready to reopen that space. However, we want to be proactive and have the funds in place so that we can open the clinic as soon as we are ready.

Capital Funds for Medical Clinic — $73,000

The major expenses to reopen our medical clinic will include hiring a Nurse Manager and a Nurse Practitioner, restocking medical supplies, and restarting our medical insurance and medical memberships.

We will also have renovation costs associated with the medical clinic, but those are accounted for on the other page.
